The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an awesome band with an even more awesome female lead vocal. She has high octane energy that is apparent in studio recordings as well as on stage. I truly believe she has a love for what she is doing which really makes a musician. Not only does she have a high energy side to her she also has some pretty rad mellow songs as well to. Karen O has a style that is very unique in every which way which is something I admire. So here’s to you, the number 5 spot!

In all honesty I don’t know a whole lot about Santogold but one thing I do know is that every track she is on I end up liking it. The album Top Ranking is one of my favorite mixes for its variety and a whole different sound I’m not used to. She as also worked with a bunch of my favorite artists including Basement Jaxx and M.I.A which she is often compared to with her style. I hope to hear more music coming from her soon. I kept that short and sweet… yeah.

7) M.I.A

Of course there is her hit song Paper Planes which I’m sure most of you have heard by now *bang* *bang* *bang* (If you don’t get this then well I guess go listen to Paper Planes). While I really like her first two albums and not a big fan of her latest one I still had to put her on this list for two reasons. I have watched a bunch of her live shows on youtube  and she is bat shit crazy intense. I have heard nothing but good things about her live shows which she packs so much energy into which I’m sure the youtube videos do not do justice. Secondly her mixes with Diplo are quite amazing. They have a mixtape together which is one of my favorite albums which in mixtape fashion takes beats from other artists and M.I.A adds vocals. I’m not usually a fan of mixtapes but she really does bring a lot of freshness to old beats. Keep on doing what you do best M.I.A.!
